THE FIRST STEP
Friends and relatives will be looking to buy gifts for all the pre-wedding and engagement bashes, so registering should be one of the first tasks you tackle once you get engaged. Take the guesswork out of gift buying by making sure they know what you want.
YOU GO TOGETHER
These gifts are for both of you, so hitting the stores together is essential. To decide what you need, take an inventory of what you already have and see where the gaps are. Talk about your style and how to incorporate it into your new home, then make your final list together as a couple.
GET WHAT YOU WANT
Take your registry beyond china! Show off your personality with dinnerware that matches your moods by choosing from square shapes, bright colors or even trendy patterns. Match it with innovative flatware, drinkware and barware items, plus the kitchen electronics and appliances you crave!
RETURN RULES
Always check out a store's exchange/return policies. Many wedding registry retailers have amazing customer service to accommodate to-be-weds' needs, but being aware of the store's return-and-exchange timelines will help you better plan and manage your registry.
WED-SITE WONDERS
Check out online registries and wish lists. We live in a tech-savvy time and you want guests to be able to order your gift at their convenience–even if it's two in the morning! Once a gift has been purchased, your registry should automatically update. This will allow other guests to see what’s available and for you to see what’s on its way. Make sure to revisit your registry and update it with additional selections as products are purchased so that guests always have a variety of things to choose from.
GIVE THANKS
Thank you notes for gifts received before the wedding should be sent within two weeks of their arrival, this way you’ve graciously informed your guests that their present has arrived. Notes for gifts received on or after the wedding day should be sent within a month of your return from the honeymoon and always be sure to mention the item by name.
